This is our PREMIUM version of the Tiger Canyon. The difference between our premium and standard versions is that our premium versions use the newest and best 4th generation PCIe NVMe, primarily built for gaming. However, the Tiger Canyon uses either 3rd or 4th generation drives, and the drives offered for the premium version make the NUC more "peppy."
WHY North AMERICA'S NUC 11? The Tiger Canyon (NUC11TNHi70001) was scheduled for release in the USA and Canada but was stuck in traffic during the supply chain disruption. It was (and is) intended to be North America's version of the 11th generation NUC.
What's different than the Panther Canyon? The processor and integrated graphics are exactly the same. However, the ports (especially for the monitors) on the Tiger Canyon are all neatly balanced on the backof the NUC. Just a couple of the right cables and you can almost surround yourself with 4 monitors. This NUC also has one Thunderbolt 4 connection with the Panther Canyon having just Thunderbolt 3 ports.
The one downside to the Tiger Canyon is that it does NOT have a 3.5mm jack or built-in microphones.
If you've never had a computer with an NVMe drive get ready to be blown away by 20-25 second startups and 2-3 second shut downs. You’ll be plenty impressed by the Iris Xe Graphics as well. They are the best ever for this size NUC and can be used for mid-level gaming, editing 8K or 4K video, and much more.
PLEASE NOTE, we suggest you assemble your NUC so that it’s UPGRADE FRIENDLY by selecting only one stick (single channel) of RAM in all machines that are 32GB or less. That way, if you choose to upgrade to 64GB later you don’t have to figure out what to do with the RAM in the machine and, more importantly, don’t need to buy two more modules. However, we know there are some who prefer the ever so slightly faster dual channel setup.
THE BACK of the Tiger Canyon explains why this IS North America’s NUC11! HDMI is more prevalent in North America. As a result, there are four ports that power four 4K monitors—2 HDMI & 2 Thunderbolt. Even though Tiger Canyon’s cousin, Panther Canyon has the exact same CPU and GPU—11th gen Intel Quad-Core i7-1165G7 (2.8 GHz up to 4.7 GHz Turbo) and Intel Iris Xe—the Panther has three different types of connections to power the four monitors AND one of them is on the front of the NUC. Awkward!
ALL CONFIGURATIONS have memory/RAM and a NVMe M.2 drive made by the leading manufacturer of solid-state drives. Due to intellectual rights, we're not allowed to use their name but the following hint should help: The brand name rhymes with "ram's tongue." The model for this, the premium version, is 980 PRO
PHENOMENAL CONNECTIVITY! From the latest in Wi-Fi (Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201) to the greatest in integrated graphics (Intel Iris Xe) this machine is built to feed the need for speed! It also has Bluetooth 5.1. Ports include Intel 2.5 Gigabit LAN, 1 Thunderbolt 4, 1 Thunderbolt 3, 3 X USB Gen 2 Ports and 1 USB 2.0 Port. The one thing this NUC doesn’t have is a 3.5mm audio in/out port. But send us a message, either just before or right after your purchase, and we will send you a free USB adapter.
